Contrary to common opinion, dark roast does not decrease the caffeine amount in coffee beans. Since the beans lose weight as they are roasted, caffeine amount is increased by weight. Even beans’ weight change is kept at a constant range, and samples are roasted at various temperatures, darker roasts will contain more caffeine.
